About Us
A Legacy of Handloom, Woven with Purpose
Gadwal Weavers Society is a collective of skilled artisans dedicated to preserving and promoting the timeless tradition of Indian handloom. Every saree crafted under our society represents patience, precision, and generations of weaving knowledge passed down through families.
For us, handloom is not just a product — it is a living heritage, a source of livelihood, and a cultural identity that deserves to be protected and celebrated.
Our Foundation & Journey
Gadwal Weavers Society was founded on 7th August 2000 by Sri Ram Gopal, with a clear and meaningful objective — to safeguard the traditional weaving practices of the Gadwal region and support the artisans behind them.
Originally, Gadwal weaving was known exclusively for its pure cotton sarees. Over time, while staying true to craftsmanship, we expanded into:
- Silk–cotton Gadwal sarees
- Pure silk Gadwal sarees
This evolution allowed us to preserve the original essence of Gadwal while introducing richness, luxury, and variety.
At the time of our formation, many weavers were facing uncertainty due to declining demand for handmade textiles. The society was created to help weavers:
- Work with dignity
- Receive fair and stable income
- Continue their ancestral craft without compromise
The Heritage of Gadwal Weaving
Traditionally, Gadwal sarees were crafted in pure cotton. Over the years, we introduced silk-cotton and pure silk Gadwal sarees while preserving their identity.
- Distinct body and border weaving technique
- Intricately woven pallu joined using traditional interlocking methods
- Zari designs inspired by temples, nature, and classical motifs
Each saree takes days or even weeks to complete — because handloom is created, not manufactured.
